Currently watching: This Must Be The Place (2011), dir. by Paolo Sorrentino
Hey everyone-
I know I haven’t posted in a loooonglong time, and it’s been even longer since I posted something worthwhile. When I first started Filmme Fatale, I wanted to write about not just films, but film history - I wanted to give context to the films I was posting, to explain their place in history and why they may be important, and why I loved them so much. Lately, though, my heart just hasn’t been in it. I still regularly watch movies and talk about them with friends and family, and my love for cinema and film history hasn’t waned in the slightest, but my desire to write just isn’t there. I’m still around, though, as many of you know; the hope is that I’ll want to start writing about film again. And there’s so much to write about! So please bear with me while I ride out this transition period.
Some films I’ve watched in the past few months:
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), dir. by Wes Anderson
Lady Vengeance (2005), dir. by Park Chan-wook
Oldboy (2003), dir. by Park Chan-wook
Thirst (2009), dir. by Park Chan-wook
Gang Girls 2000 (1999), dir. by Katrina Del Mar [about half a dozen times now that I own it]
Enter The Void (2009), dir. by Gaspar Noé
Dark Days (2000), dir. by Marc Singer
Dracula (1992), dir. by Francis Ford Coppola
Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009), dir. by Niels Arden Oplev
The Social Network (2009), dir. by David Fincher
Rabbit’s Moon (1950), dir. by Kenneth Anger
Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome (1954), dir. by Kenneth Anger
(Not much film history here, but I needed to catch up on some recent releases.)
